Good point about the drops, mou...@ John the Monkey

Good point about the drops, mounted higher they definitely have a wider appeal than just racing. I usually choose "racing bike" over the more common "road bike" because I feel road bike is a bit too general a term for them. For example, roadsters and tourers are also bikes designed for roads.

I agree it is baffling how many frames are intended for real-world use but have no provisions for mudguards.Dr C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10234078254243840589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8919432872771641105.post-4730884901804045262011-03-30T12:45:04.096+01:002011-03-30T12:45:04.096+01:00Oh, and quick bikes with room for mudguards.

They can get most things, although some they'll need to order in.

Drops = Racing is a bit of a canard, think. They do if you mount them to a low stem (or one with a steep downward angle). Mount them higher and you have a comfortable upright position & options for dropping out of the wind while maintaining good access to the controls.

Only really a factor on longer rides, I guess, but I appreciate the variety of hand positions they offer, personally - I've a set of Nitto Noodles in mind for the LHT at some point.

Things I'd like to see come back? More saddles with bag loops, definitely!John the Monkeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12048680743149584464noreply@blogger.com
